Facebook Profits Jump 71%



Facebook profits and earnings jumped in the latest quarter, as marketing dollars poured into the social networking business and consumers chose to flock to the website.

Over two billion people – over a quarter of the planet’s population – log to the website each month, a strong draw for advertisers.

The business said mobile advertisements represented 87 percent of its advertising revenue of $9.16bn, up from 84 percent one year ago.

The company said earnings reach $9.3bn (Number7.09bn) within the April to June period, jumping 45% year-on-year.

Facebook Profits climbed 71 percent to $3.9bn.

“We had a fantastic second quarter and first half of this year,” said chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, who started Facebook in 2004.

Facebook has been incorporating more advertising in addition to more customers, as it investigates the best way to digitize its other social media platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp.

The business stated that Instagram was creating a growing contribution to increase, but the news feed in the core of Facebook stayed the largest driver.
